Lanie, thanks for your kind words. I'm not important enough but certainly Senator Whitehouse is. No, I think it was just a technological glitch that I couldn't fix. I hope it won't happen again, but if it does, then I'll begin to worry.
I thought it was on my end, Diane!! I have to wonder if interference is being run for you and journalists like you because 'dear leader' djt does not want you or others as excellent as you to not be able to broadcast. It's just a thought. Maybe I've lost my mind....Hoping to see Senator Whitehouse on your show soon - he's awesome!!! So are you, Diane!!!
Hi Diane, here are suggestions for dealing with technical glitches (which have been more common recently):
1) Are you doing this with WiFi? If yes, definitely bring in an electrician or IT company to install wired connections. WiFi is *not* reliable enough for production use.
2) Hire a knowledgeable IT person/company to review your equipment and software settings, on a regular basis. If needed, upgrade equipment.
3) Ideally, an IT person would be there during your sessions, in case something goes wrong. At a minimum, a "cheat sheet" for dealing with common video issues would be very helpful.
I imagine a lot of this is due to the invasion of AI. I'm finding a lot of Substack is not functioning as smoothly as it once did and live broadcasting on their platform has certainly seen problems from growth.
Suggest you prepare your live guests for this anomaly and I'm sure most have experienced it with other interviews.
P.S. Senator Whitehouse is my favorite political leader and has been for some time. Wish we could clone him in Florida...
You are so kind. Right now, I feel terrible. I've got to make sure this doesn't ever happen again.
Senator Whitehouse is such a good man, and I do feel embarrassed. But thank you for your words.

Diane, please don't be embarrassed. These things happen. You're the best.
Diane, no apologies necessary. Technology has an amazing ability to wait for the most important moment before deciding to take a coffee break.
I'm grateful for the effort you put into making these conversations happen. I hope there will be another chance, but if not, “Onward!”
Thank you for keeping at it.
